So yes, like many of you out there I had to get Disney Plus and watch the new Live Action "The Mandalorian" as soon as it was available.  This was awesome.  I thought it would be good this was , as beginnings go better than good. I have to admit I was a little worried about John Favreau directing and producing it, he's , to me , best known for swingers which even in youth I found too juvenile.  However, I think Favreau here put together almost the PERFECT series opening.  He starts with a live action scene followed by some shown but not fully explained back-lore, employs a little mis-direction and then follows it up with a live action sequence that teases the rest of the season. I will just tell normally shows give me 4th wall issues, the pre-quals certainly did as super hooky .... judging by the 1st show this isn't going to be that it's going to have all the grit, lore, and complexity of "A New Hope" leave your midichlorian counters at home.

If you don't want spoilers.....watch it with my complete approval and stop reading here.

What we know about the Mandalorian. He hates droids...really doesn't trust them so how appropriate is it that he ends up having to end with IG-88 to storm the holdout where he is looking?

Ok he doesn't have a big makeup scene with Droids as he shoots IG-88 shortly thereafter...notice IG 88's directions are different than the Mandalorians.  It seems likely that 2 different groups are offering a bounty on the creature.  Likely a major plot point as the season unfolds.

Absolutely still love that Favreau and company teased the back scene of the Mandalorian as a "foundling" while he's getting a new piece of armor forged old school style with new space age equipment and that he's part of a tribe. They left open the explanations for future revelations while also giving us a reason for the Mandalorian's final actions.

As far as Toy's Go: I'm predicting the "Hover-Blaster" of the invasion scene will be a hit before too long.  We do have (just FYI) the Vintage Kenner Style Mandalorian and the Black Series version coming in later (Sadly the toys release date is May).

I absolutely LOVE the post-empire set where someone is still searching for one of Yoda's (apparent) same species relative. As someone who loved Yoda as his hero growing up...Brilliantly done Bravo...can't wait to see the next.
