Reviews of Department 56 Summer 2019 Light-Up Village

You really have to take your hat off to the design crew over at Department 56 when it comes to collectible light-up villages. The level of detail and themes that they are generating is fast becoming the top line in US collectibles for the holidays and super-fans needs year round. I suppose it's no secret though they simply choose better themes than others and add more detail while still keeping the cost reasonable. No doubt these poly-resin light-ups are not cheap but then again they are not cheaply made. Of course if you get them from Keenga Toys you know they'll come in great condition and be ready to rumble.

This month they didn't just launch 1 great new village set but two different series with multiple great character themes. I'll try to get you my beloved collectors sorted out here on "what goes with what" :

Batman: 2 Different Light-Up Sets

1. Wayne Manor 3 Piece Set - This is an "all in one" Village thus the pricey price point but it's well worth it. Included is a stately impressive light-up Wayne Manor , Gate with W depicted, and a Bruce Wayne and Alfred Figurine Base piece.

2. Bat Cave with Bat Mobile - While the manor is stately the Bat Cave is where it's at. For those who love a little action the authentic looking 1960's version Bat Cave with the retro classic Bat Mobile will instantly bring the TV Series alive in your house. This item coordinates with Batman and Robin figurines which you can also get right here at Keenga Toys.

Superman The Daily Planet - The Daily Planet is the perfect desk end for anyone who spends...well a little too much time at their desk. Porcelain hand painted finish makes this an absolute masterpiece when it's in full lighted village mode. You can just imagine Superman speeding in to save main squeeze Louis Lane.

Harry Potter 2019 Village Releases

1. Hogwarts Express Collector Train Set - To be candid, I'm not really that big into trains (if you are you maybe over the moon here) but this set is clearly an exception just looking at it makes me nostalgic for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I took one look at this and opened up my On Demand Package for the first Harry Potter movie. For a little more ambiance with the set you can add Draco waiting on the train at stop 9 3/4 figure.

2. Hogwarts Light-Up Astronomy Tower - If you've started a Harry Potter village collection, this is a must have, if you don't have a collection this might be a great place to start. The Astronomy Tower is sorts of a "corner piece" to the light-up village collection from 2018 and 2019 and really brings out the whole set when you add in the highest peak at Hogwarts. This also has a companion piece with figurines depicting the 2 toughest instructors at Hogwarts Snape and McGonagall.

3. The Burrow Light-Up - I can't quite come up with a word to describe this but I really like it, it's neither ultra-polished like the astronomy tower or nostalgia educing like Hogwarts express train, there is just something authentic about adding this piece to a collection. It's really a good fit regardless of the other pieces you have.
